I have just received a droidox x7 ultimate from the droidbox shop, but I am having problems getting a film or tv show on XBMC to work, I get the menu and search for the title I want, but the screen just shows Up One Level at the top. Is there any settings I need to check to get a film or to show to play. Also the showbox and videobox do not work. But live tv streaming works ok.

Can you let us know which add-on you're using please?
Can you scroll to Media Portal in XBMC and click on it. Then scroll down to Genesis, click on it, then Search, and look for a film or TV series that you'd like to watch. Let us know whether you have more joy there. (As there are dozens and dozens of different add-ons installed in XBMC, sometimes one won't work until the author updates the code.
Re ShowBox and VideoBox, can you let us know what appears when you start the apps, what exactly you click on, and what then happens? We'll recreate it on one of our devices, and see if we can get to the bottom of this.

Thanks for the reply, the only add-on that plays movies and tv shows, that works on my box, is MBOX. Icefilms, Mash up, Navi x etc do not work on my box, When I press OK on Showbox on the Droidbox launcher I just get a black screen before it goes back to the droidox luncher screen. Videobox goes to a screen with New in the middle of the top line and Catalogue on the right hand, but nothing else. Genesis in the Media Portal does not work

I've not got an MBox add-on in my XBMC installation. I'll check whether it is an app we supply with newer models than I have.
Re Genesis, we've definitely got lots of happy customers using that one, what happens when you try to use it?
If you're with BT or Virgin as your ISP, check https://droidbox.co.uk/blog/uk-isps-blocking-content-how-to-remove/ . If you're not, check if the company you do use has an opt out family-friendly filter in place.
I've heard reports that Show Box's latest update didn't work, I'd recommend checking
Settings>Apps>Show Box and see if there is an Uninstall Updates type of button. If there is, please click it.
Re Mash Up, NaviX etc, once you've checked your ISP's possible filters, try again and let us know what exactly happens, in terms of them not working.

I do not have any filters on with BT, but when I go to icefilms or mash up it gets to the menus screens but then does not play anything. I have just installed the Heavy Metal add on which also gets as far as the menus screens but does not play any videos

Try the following steps to see if your installation is OK in general.
XBMC>open the list of add-ons>Genesis>TV Shows>Search>search for Arrow>Click the 1st Arrow result>Season 2>Episode 12>Select the first VKBox HD entry.
If that doesn't play, we'll try resetting XBMC's data ( http://droidboxforums.com/threads/resetting-xbmc-to-a-just-installed-state.27/ ) and re-running the wizard ( https://droidbox.co.uk/blog/droidbox-wizard-update-oct-2014/ ) . If that video does display, then we know it something specific to the other add-ons.

Hi. since I applied the update for Showbox yesterday, the app won't work.

When I click the app on the home page the screen goes grey/black and nothing happens. After doing this 1/2 doz times I went into settings and removed the app from the apps section thinking that I would be able to reinstall from Play Store.

It isnt on Playstore or at least, I cannot find it. can you help please?

It seems that the update Show Box's authors made available most recently was broken. Head to Android's settings then click on Apps (if you can't see an Apps entry, click on the far right tab and then More or Advanced Settings first). Scroll down until you can see Show Box and click on it. If you see a button related to uninstalling updates, please click it.
If there isn't an option for that, click on Uninstall. Then open the ES File Explorer app, expand the Local menu situated on the left, and click on / Device. Now navigate to the System folder. If you can see a preinstall folder click on it. If not, e-mail us ( [email protected] ). Assuming you have just clicked on a preinstall folder, now look for com.tdo.showbox.SOMETHING.apk . If you can't see that, check for any file with Show Box in the title. Once found, click on it, and confirm you want to install it. If you're informed your security settings are too tight, click the Settings button, and allow installations from unknown sources.
After this, Show Box will be reinstalled, with a working version in place. When asked, deny the request to update.
This should keep you going until the authors release a fixed update.
