I bought one of these along with my new t8. Generally does everything i need. But i find the red on/off button does not put the box into standby or exit standby. Anyone else have this problem?

Same as mine. I like the qwerty keyboard but other functions aren't great IMO.
The off button is pain in the arse.

The VIP remote is for a lot of different devices (Android, Windows, Mac, Linux), and there isn't a universal code to tell all OS to shut down!
However, if you've got the smaller DroidBOX infrared remote control, you could teach the VIP remote to copy the on/off button on that. Let me know if your manual didn't include a section on teaching the VIP remote control to mimic infrared remotes.

My box only had the mouse and no instructions. Sorry.

Thank you silently screaming. That actually worked (much to my surprise). On/off button on the "flying squirrel" (chinese translation) now works. For double gee this is what you do.
Place original supplied remote and air mouse end to end beam side facing.
Press the tv button on the air mouse until the rapidly flashing red light slows down - it is now entering learning mode.
Press the on/off button on the original remote once. This sends the code to the air mouse.
Press the on/off button on the air mouse once to read the code.
Worked first time for me. Suspect it may need some faffing about if it doenst work first time for you.
