I've been looking at getting a T8 box as i'm so tired of the slow speed of Netflix on my LG Bluray surround system. Could anyone tell me if it's possible to output Netflix in 5.1 Surround on the T8?

Many thanks. I'm really excited about getting this box.

Not sure on Netflix, but I've got a T8 and there's loads of movies on xbmc with full HD and 5.1 sound as well. You will not need Netflix as there's tons of movies on Showbox and in xbmc. Most movies are 720p to 1080p and on NaviX has loads in 5.1.

I know none of the technical support staff have Netflix accounts to check with, sorry. If you wanted to change your password temporarily, you could ask one of the members here with an amp or AV amp to test it for you.

@SilentlyScreaming Sorry for the late reply. I didn't get an email about your response.

Well in the end i did a live chat on the Netflix website and we came to the conclusion that the Neflix app from the Google Play store is only in stereo.
They said that they were grateful for bringing it to their attention and that they are always looking at bringing great video and audio quality to as many devices as possible.
So hopefully the app will get an update soon with 5.1.

@gez18
I understand that XBMC is free but my beef with it is that the majority of stuff on there is only in stereo and i don't have a Pro Logic II decoder in my system.
Trying to find a 5.1 video stream is a waste of time as they are pretty much non existent. Thanks anyway.

I find it so hard to find anything on Navix, the chances of me finding 5.1 stuff seems impossible.
Every video i try is in 2.0 stereo. I did find all the Star Wars films on a list somewhere in 5.1 though.
The thing with navix and xbmc in general is that it's so fragmented. You have to search through so many folders not really knowing what you're gonna find.
Maybe it's just me being a noob cause i've only had the box for a few weeks.

In the Advanced settings, there is the option to have digital audio auto detected. When i turn this on, Digital Audio Output is in PCM mode.
When it's off i can choose SPDIF passthrough which is what i want as i'm using an optical cable.
There is no option to set the box to stereo. Setting it to stereo doesn't make sense to me if i'm trying to get 5.1?

When playing a movie in navix, there are some audio options. There is a Stereo Upmix option and SPDIF Passthrough.
Where you referring to those? I have turned on the passthrough but what does the stereo upmix do?

When playing some 5.1 movies, sometimes it plays back in 5.1 and other times it'll play back in 2.0 although the xbmc osd says it's in 5.1.
Changing the stereo upmix does nothing.

Thanks for trying to help me out. I really appreciate it. XBMC isn't the easiest thing to use.

On NaviX, its the movies normally second from top has loads of 5.1 movies.
As for setting up mine is using the HDMI lead to my Amp in stereo and passthrough. The amp then decodes it to the DD 5.1. If you look at the top of the movies on NaviX it tells you.
Xbmc is a big learning curve and they are aways updating things as well.
The main thing is to enjoy it.
Hope you find this helpful.

Thanks for trying to help.
So when you say "second from the top", which list are you referring to?

When you open Navix, then in the main menu go Navix start here, then Most-viewed 24h, wait for the list to up date and its the More Power 1080 5.1 movies normally second from top but today its five. Check it out and it tells at the top how to set up.
Good luck

Thanks. Oh yeah, that one. I've been looking at that one today. I don't understand the instructions but i can get some films to work in 5.1.
Don't worry. You've helped me enough already.
Thanks again.

No worries, I don't mind helping...I love movies and music. Love multi channel SACDs they sound great on my system.
I've got 7.1 system run by my Denon amp and run my droidbox through my Oppo blu ray player, witch also does DVDAudio and SACDs too. My favourite at the moment is Steven Wilsons new album in multi channel it sounds amazing ..

Would that be the Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree?
I haven't really listened to his stuff, although i know he's quite popular.
I found out about him because of his involvement in the metal band Opeth.

He's a very busy man, he's just finished on Simple minds blu ray Sparkle in the rain...Pure Audio and there rumours he doing a 5.1 on Roxy Music too.
Yes he was in Porcupine Tree, they won awards for there multi channel mixes.
