If you have a remote control for your X7 with an Air Mouse function (wave you remote control in the air, the cursor on screen moves), drop the cursor to the very bottom of the screen. HOLD DOWN the OK/select button, and flick the cursor (your wrist, effectively) upwards. This will restore the system/Android bar. If you don't have that type of remote control, plug in a USB mouse or similar, and repeat the procedure.

When I did that I couldn't get it back while on xbmc. I found flicking the mouse as silentlyscreaming suggests only worked if I press the home button on my remote to take me to android screen and then follow silentlyscreamings instructions.

Good idea with clearing the launcher's data (assuming you are using the DroidBOX one). Force Stop it first. You may lost any customizations you made, but nothing critical.

So when i boot the box back up I will still have the option for droidbox launcher and just the plan launcher and also that the droidbox launcher will still have the options off adding apps and such?
Thanks for your help by the way

Clear data will remove all customized data that has been created since you first used the launcher.
If there is a Clear DEFAULTS button, this will once more give you the option to select which launcher to use. (This button can be used with other apps, for example if you have five applications installed that can play videos, one day click on ALWAYS, instead of JUST ONCE when selecting the app to use to display a video, then selecting that app and clicking Clear Defaults would once again allow you to select which app to use).
