Just got my droidbox and VIP Plus remote. One of the images of the VIP Plus on the relevant page in the store seems to suggest you can teach it to mimic commands on other remotes (like the "standard" VIP remote?), but I cannot find any instructions on how to do this on the site. This may only be for being able to power on/off a TV? Either way, how do I teach the VIP Plus to mimic, if possible?

Thanks

Can you try:

The remote control’s red standby button at the bottom can be taught to mimic an infrared remote control function.
You could train the VIP Plus remote to use it as a Standby button for your DroidBOX®, or change the Source selection on your TV.
To teach the VIP Plus remote a command, line up the top of the two remotes on a stable surface.
Next, hold down both the Home and the red programmable power button together (see the table for button assignments).
Both LEDs will flash for a moment, once they stop, press (once) the button on the other remote that you want to teach the VIP Plus remote to mimic.
You may need to repeat this a couple of times until both LEDs flash again to confirm success.

I also have just bought 2 VIP Plus controllers and want to set up the programable power button for my TV. When i push the home and the red power buttons together the lights start flashing but never stop. I held them on for 5 minutes and still did not stop flashing until i stop pushing the buttons. How do i set up the red power button? what am i doing wrong?

Lined up the top of two remotes on a table.

Held down both the Home and the red programmable power button together

Both LEDs will flash for a moment, once the BLUE LED stopped flashing (and the red then stopped as well), I pressed the button I wanted to copy on the other remote. I had to do this 3 times before it took. I then pressed the home button, this seemed to stop all flashing.

I then checked the copied button worked on the Plus.

Looks as though the original instructions weren't accurate, sorry. Can you shoot us an e-mail - [email protected] with your order ID/delivery address, if trying again with the steps above doesn't help.

thanks for your help. It seems my controllers do not work this way, as the lights do not stop flashing, but it doesn't matter too much, everything else works OK. Thanks for your help.

I have the same problem, instructions with the remote or the above alternative do not work for me. How far apart should the devices be placed ? Is there a reset option ? Vlada.

I have VIP Plus remote and so think the above video is not applicable ?
Hi

Procedure for other remotes is similar as goal was to show distance provided and setup procedure in general.

Hi like the OP I can't get the mimic function to work. Maybe someone can stick a video on how to do this.

My problem is that when like the OP when I press the red power button and home I just get a flashing blue led. Then when I let go the blue disappears and is replaced by a flashing red. This is poor, does it sound like a faulty unit? Thanks

Hi

Regarding the following tests has been done and VIP Plus that is currently being shipped do not support the following function at the moment.

If you had the VIP Remote with second power button and OK button blued(instead of white)you will be able to perform the mimic function.

We do not have on sale the following batch at the moment.

Regards and have a nice day .

I believe that is correct, yes. The original VIP remote control can still be taught 4 functions from other infrared remote controls, the VIP Plus (apart from the earliest revisions) can't.
