Ok let's take this one step at a time.
What do you see when you switch the box on?
Do you see a home screen (or launcher as it's also known with lots of tiles)?
What do you mean when you say "go's right on to the wizard"? Is this after you've pressed anything? What wizard (the "wookie"?)?
If you can expand on what's happening we may be able to help further.

Hi, If you are using openelec it might be your box is booting straight into openelec, so you won't get your main homepage.
To switch back to android, in the wizard you are using go to program addons and select openelec config. in system scroll to the bottom and you will get the option to reboot to android, to get your main homepage back.

Sounds like Angela's advice is spot on, k.holyhead. Hopefully follow that and you will get back to android. There are 2 operating systems on these types of droidbox, openelec and android. Both have their own version of Kodi.

The droidbox instructions for updating state you should click Wipe Data as well as Wipe Cache, but this means you lose all your apps, settings etc. Is Wipe Data really necessary? What is we don't want to lose all the data? Do we have to backup first, update OTA and then restore? My dad now owns my old Droidbox T8-S and I have to support it (he's 67!) so I'd rather not have to spend hours and hour round their waiting for backups to run/restore everytime he has a firmware update.

1. They will be back
2. There are many good android apps (youtube, spotify, uktvnow, mobdro, showbox, movies hd, iplayer do i need to go on) that provide great entertainment
3. Many addons are still available

Mine is still 15.2 on android after the update (i think), as it it still says dbmc 15.2
. Download the new version of kodi,(kodi 16,1) using the internet browser.Next uninstall kodi 15.2. Now click on the app installer and this should find the new version of kodi that was downloaded and it should also install it. And that should be it away to go usually when you perform an update you have to update kodi seperatally

They could go to play store and kodi and it should have the option to update there without uninstalling the old version.

If you have downloaded the latest version of kodi then uninstall kodi 15.2 then run the appinstaller to install the latest version of kodi you might need to run the Wookie to install the addons you need to uninstall all other versions of kodi when you run a new one

I have just updated my T8-S to the latest firmware, all fine. Went through steps in install Wookie lite, it installed but unlike last time it asked me to disconnect power from my box which I did. Switched back on, went into DBMC and the Wookie splash screen appeared then it went to DBMC screen which takes an absolute age to exit. Any ideas? Thank you
