Best VPN's - user experience

Have used Unbl**kUs by changing DNS in static IP. Have seen much talk of VPN V****h - is this any good and is it just changing DNS also? Sown are free (with add on purchases) from Play Store - others are separate purchases.
I only pay for Real D****d at the moment but considering paying for VPN to get HD football from MSNBC etc.

Discuss...

Just a thought. Many of us are getting good streams without the need to use a vpn. May not stay that way, but for now, unless it is essential, you could save yourself the money.

I use ipvanish as an app on android side and with openvpn on the openelec side.

Choose where you want to be and very good speeds

Ipvanish used just as an app? That sounds ok... Nigelar - which addons? I have searched thru addons from NJM to castaway and from Sports Mix to Phoenix. Anything half decent buffers every 30 secs. BT Infinity 2 (70 down / 19 up)

Yep. Downside is that you have to fire up the app and choose a connection (2 clicks) before opening kodi (and anything else you want to run through the vpn). I'm sure this could be automated with taster or similar though

Hi tampa. Make sure you turn hardware acceleration off in settings - video - acceleration. The 3 buttons you see unset them. They changed the way premier league pass is streamed so you have to do this (reset to default when youve finished).

I'm not au fait with a VPN never having used one. We quite often have 2 or more devices connected to the net at the same time (not including Droidbox). I had a look at IP Vanish and it supports 2 simultaneous connections. Given the Droidbox is our only Android device (rest are IOS) would I have to take out different subscriptions for each OS?

The alternative would be to replace the router with a VPN enabled one. Problem is we are with SKY and I believe they can be a bit awkward about not using their hardware.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I use PIA and it is flawless. NO difference in streams/buffering regardless of whether it is switched on or off and using OpenVPN on Openelec side of my T8-S Plus means it auto connects as soon as I switch it on and even changes region depending on which addon I am using (eg flicks to US when using NBC Sports Extra)

No, you only need one subscription. You would log in to the app on android and ios using the same log-in details (just download the app from Google Play store for Android and App Store for iOS). No need to install VPN on your router at all, do it all through the devices. By the way, PIA allows you up to 5 devices at a time on one subscription.

Thanks Stringy, reviews are very good. The only negative is it is a US based company. Not that I can see myself being a major target for the NSA :p

Seriously though, as long as you choose one of the well known and PAID VPN's you will be fine. All I have seen and tried are reliable and won't sell your details on or keep any of your history. Free VPN's will need to make money so...... I will let you make a decision on that.

All the decent ones let you share your subscription across multiple devices (and operating systems) so you should be fine on that part. I'd avoid installing directly on to your router if I were you though. That's a pretty big step and, to be honest, quite unnecessary for what you (I assume) need it for.

I was having the same kind of problem but when I read some articles on PC-mag and Life hacker Australia I found some of the interesting VPNs and I have compile a list of best VPN service in 2016. where I found Ivacy looks good and ExpressVPN.

I didnt find anything good in pia although i love vanish and purevpn because of its features.
