Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has installed Now TV on their DroidBox and how it works.

Thanks

Sky used to have restrictions on sending signals from mobile devices to tv using hdmi so i would be surprised if it would work.

I'll ask our team to test it out, if any of them have a login. If not, I'll see if we can distract the boss and get the company credit card out!

Without having tried it, my gut reaction would be that Nigelar is likely right.
That said, we do have our W10 device that runs Windows. As it is seen as a normal PC by Windows, I suspect we'll have more joy there. If no one here has tried it themselves, and I don't come back with an update in the next week, please do poke me via a PM, this counts as an exception to the msg in my signature.

It may be that removing Rooted status from an Android device is enough (using the option in SuperSU), however it is the implied portable status of Android devices that companies assume that may prevent it from working with HDMI at least. I'd not want to watch if it was composite video (phono/RCA socket instead of HDMI) only.

To my knowledge, sky apps won't work at all on rooted devices (phones and tablets, assume also android boxes) but worth testing.

Sky go won't work on any box, phone or tablet via HDMI rooted or not.

NowTV might work as you can use that on devices like a PS4 ect via HDMI.
Although yet again it may not work on a rooted device.

On the Now TV website it states:

You can watch NOW TV on most Android devices, just as long as they were bought in the UK and are in their original state.

If you’re having a few issues running the NOW TV app on your Android tablet or mobile, it could be because:

  • Your device has been modified or rooted – even if this was done by the manufacturer.
  • You bought your device outside of the UK.
