I was going to post the same question too as I can not find a way to format even a standard drive at the moment and have checked every possible option in openelec.

Its gone since the last up date, if you go to the ES file explorer there on your left click on Local. Here you can see apart on SD cards...might help. As for openelec not sure if it automatically does it now..before the last update there was a part in openelec where you could format it and there was droidbox cloud, but its all gone.
We will have to wait and see what the tech guys/girls say.

David is right, if you use OpenELEC you need to back out the last update and revert to Kodi build 20728 (you do not need to reverse the OTO update, just the Kodi build). The last update removes the HDD format option and the DroidboxCloud install option. I have reported this to Droidbox Support.

It was in openelec, if you hav'nt updated go to openelec and then openelec. Its above the format HDD bit, but if you've updated don't bother because its gone.
Still surprised no one from droidbox has commented on this yet...

I can still downgrade to the previous version and did so with no problems. No options for type of format came up, it just did it and now the hard drive can be seen. Thanks for the help guys.

Nice one, I did this, but now has gone back to the new update. Not shore if it auto picks up the HDD and formats it now. Glad to have help you and enjoy your droidbox.

Sorry I didn't make it clear, the format option is there and when I selected it nothing appeared to happen yet after a while "hard drive formatted successfully" just flashed up. You most likely have the autoupdate option selected in the settings options, just downgrade then change that setting to manual to stop openelec updating manually.

I just ran the openelec wizard and all seems good now, but in the openelec setting there no droidbox cloud or format your HDD. I've managed to get it back, don't no how....so fingers crossed. Thanks for your imput and enjoy your box.
