Had my kodi droid box a while now and at my wits end! Everything I watch it keeps freezing, have tried clearing cache, watching about 200 YouTube videos and still can't get it sorted, my internet connection is great, anyone have any ideas please? o_O

Somewhere over the rainbow
Sorry to here.....
Try going to system click here.
Click on Video, then scroll down to Acceleration.
Now look for hardware decoding...make sure that says Hardware Accerlerated.
Now underneath highlight all.
Now try and see if this helps you. If not it might be time to clear data and re-run the wizard.
To clear data go out if Kodi and go into setting, other, more setting and then Apps, scroll down to Kodi (xbmc) and click on it. Here you can clear data, wait for it to get to zero then go back into Kodi and re-run the wizard. Remember to unplug the power after the wizard has finished. Then plug back in and see if its helped....good luck

If using openelec on a t8s can you just clear the cache from the maintenance addon or do you need to go back to android?

Hi, I have the A95X and it also constantly pauses. I'm not sure if my settings are the same as the person above because i tried to do what you suggested but it didn't work (or I did it wrong). Can you please help?

Thanks, Bre

We don't know much about "A95x" boxes here, but the general advice is as given above - clear cache, and adjust or experiment with hardware acceleration settings for kodi performance (they're in kodi - system - settings - video; make sure your in expert mode). Droidbox android boxes run the amlogic chipset so there are normally 3 options - dont know what will be on your box. Try different combinations of setting and see if it makes any difference. You should also ensure that you stream in kodi addons from gvideo servers which are the best.

Also check your internet connection over both wifi and ethernet is good and strong - the ookla speed test tool from google play is good.

Failing that you should probably contact your box provider for advice - there may be a firmware fix. Do they have a forum like this Droidbox one where you can ask questions specific to that box?

Hi, so I just got my android box a couple days ago as a gift. I seem to be having this same problem with freezing, but only when streaming HD. I'm not sure if I need to try clearing the cache because the box is only a couple days old. I'm just wondering if I should try this acceleration method, I'm still trying to figure this thing out and I don't want to do anything to mess it up.
Thanks

It is worth trying to change the acceleration methods - as long as you keep a note of the original settings, if it makes things worse then changing the settings back to their original state would get you back to your starting point at least.
Also worth trying a few different hosting companies for your online media, just in case the issue is a bandwidth bottleneck at their end (HD files require more bandwidth)

No knowledge of that machine sorry - you are on the droidbox user forum.
Can still help but you need to provide more info.
What is crashing? Kodi or an android app? Or is it crashing on boot up?

Have you updated firmware prior to the crash?

Maybe a factory reset would help? Do you know how to do that? I can provide a link to droidbox reset processes which are fairly generic.

Have you contacted your box supplier for advice?
