We'll soon have an Android 6.0 firmware for T8 Mini owners that are happy to test beta releases. We will be releasing this to individual devices where the owner has indicated they want access via the OTA application.

Please see https://droidbox.co.uk/how-to/how-to-find-your-droidbox-android-mini-pcs-device-id/ for details on how to extract the information we'll need.

If you're not comfortable installing non-official firmware, or don't have the time to report back with any issues found, please wait for an official release (OFFICIAL releases will not require ANY information from you, you can disregard the post above).

If you ARE interested, please post back in this thread confirming:
a) You have a DroidBOX T8 Mini
b) You understand the implications that a status of "Beta" on a firmware can bring
c) Your Android Device ID (if you have a preferred app to extract this, feel free to use that instead, the app in the blog post is a suggestion).

Hello Chris is this beta the same update that was released by mistake a week ago? Or is it a new update on top of that one.. I haven't seen any other flaws with that particular marshmallow update since..

Other than LibreElec at startup loading files down the left side of the screen android marshmallow is very good and quick, do db think when this update pushes thru that that 'cu de gras' T8s Plus will get the same f/w or a beta?

Ok – confirming I have a T8 Mini and understanding that beta firmware can be unstable, unreliable, lack functionality, lead to data loss, you should have backups of data at all times etc.

However I will only be able to participate (or even upgrade) if I can be sure that the Android 6 firmware is able to mount ext4 (Linux) formatted USB disks either natively or using a third-party mounter, because all my offline media content is on such a disk. On the 5.1.1 firmware it works fine for me with the "USB OTG Helper" app.

My device ID is 2D34CDCBD1C40315

@lodtoran I been using marshmallow for about a week using dbmc and all I can say is that it's fast.. Minor bugs that are very minimal.. I haven't tried libre-elec though

Yes I had very good experiences with Marshmallow on other devices, it seems a bit more faster/reactive too, that's why I'm interested. I watch a lot of anime though and have to rely on my fat (ext4 formatted) 5 TB harddisk for that, because anime streaming services here in Germany suck. I'm Linux-only so I have to take care what disk formats are explicitely supported for external storage. Alternatively I could just drag my second laptop into the living room again for offline viewing, but I wiped Ubuntu from it in favor of Remix OS, which doesn't recognize the TV being connected :D

Hello Chris, I spoke to you on the phone a week ago.. Quick question about that BETA firmware update of present 6.0..is it going to give you a option to upgrade from present settings or is it only giving you option of full reset?

We've not forgotten everyone. The first one that was heading towards beta testing wasn't stable enough - no point in asking people to test it and wouldn't have made official status. Work is continuing.
