Not sure what's happening but I'm experiencing bad buffering on my t8 mini. My Amazon fire stick on the other hand works perfectly. How can this be? Not sure why I paid 3 times the price for a product that at the moment is performing worse

Check your d/l speed on the t8 mini - use speedtest or similar app from Google play.
Ethernet connection will be better than wifi.
Main cause of buffering is contention on host servers.
Nothing you can do about that. Other than find another stream.
When you get no buffering on the firestick are you watching exactly the same stream from the exactly same source as on your t8 mini?

my download speed is fine. using the same stream source "deadpool 1080p gvideo on exodus" works perfectly fine no buffering and instant playback even after fast forwarding through the movie on two separate amazon stick's as well as my laptop which all run the same skin/buld etc. but on the t8 mini running libreelec its buffering every 5-10 seconds.

Hi andrew

In this last post you've mentioned you were running librelec when you saw these problems. That changes things a bit - in your previous thread about skins you had mentioned you were running openelec.

First things first. To eliminate a problem with the box, can you see if you can stream the film successfully in android (same addon - exodus - same host combination - putlocker or pmovies/gvideo). I checked this out this morning and it ran well without buffering.

Now moving on to librelec, i dont have this set up so can't replicate right now. For sure some people (not all) have experienced some buffering/lag type problems in librelec. One of the most experienced forum members @David Savage has proposed this solution which many have found worked

https://droidboxforums.com/threads/new-libreelec-7-0-2.7824/#post-29775

Regarding checking download speed i meant on the box itself rather than the advertised speed. It would help if you can run a speedtest on the box and post results at least so we can eliminate that. And say whether you are using wifi or ethernet as well.

Letting us know the results of the speedtest I asked you to run on the box may help. And whether you are using wifi or Ethernet.
Clearly, you contact Droidbox about any refund.

Ok. I'm glad you ran the test, as that is the clue to your buffering issue.

As to why....
These are all possibilities.
1. Distance from the router. E.g. In another room. I found the wifi signal dropped significantly in my house so use those wifi extenders to give me a good signal. Else everything buffered like mad. I then connected my Droidbox to the extender by Ethernet to avoid any further signal drop out.
2. Congested wifi channels, conflicting with other devices, even a neighbours. You can change channels on the router. There's a wifi analyser tool which used to be packaged with Droidboxes if not there maybe an app on the Droidbox market or Google play
3. If you are any distance from the router, ensure you are using 2ghz over 5ghz wifi connection (or whatever the measure is). 5ghz is stronger over shorter distances.

Good luck.

To hopefully prove the box is ok, try placing it as close to the router as you can and rerun the speedtest and view a movie.

i will get onto these suggestions. however my inital thought is that it shouldn't be an issue as i have similar tech eg amazon fire sticks, laptops etc at similar distances and it doesn't cause and issue.

You should definitely try an ethernet connection. Make sure wifi is off on the box. Run the speedtest again and post results or a screenshot of results to date. Ethernet should return massively improved results. Even if the wifi receiver is somehow faulty ethernet should not be affected.
When you ran the test under wifi how far from the router was the box?

Hard wired all the way if you can do it. Ethernet is really fast on the T8 Mini. My router is upstairs and the T8 downstairs - hence all the big holes in my ceiling and front room wall!!!!

Buffering.. Ho-Hum
Lots of Conditions Cause this Problem.?
.
You can Comfortably Stream SD @2Mb
HD Reqs About 8 to 10Mb.
If You Want h.265/4K/hevc... It's Time to get the Wallet Out.
.
SOME Buffering can be Controlled Using advancedsettings.xml
But It Works better for Live Streaming & not Addons.
.
Buffering = Move On
You've got 1000's More Channels..
Oh BTW.. If you Like Live
THEY are firing Bogeys down the Transmissions.
And that Screws ya Box (Viewing Wise)
.
G'luk
