Hi, I brought a T8 plus box from you a few months back and it's been acting really strange for a while now.

I'm a noob to all this really and have only just started playing about with it and getting to grips with kodi after reading through guides etc.

After trying to install an update last night, the box done a factory reset and now when i boot up Android it asks for an 8 key pin number? You can bypass it by pressing the return key.

Now, When trying to download repositories or zip files in Kodi, the system completely locks up with no other option other than to reboot it. The exact same thing happens when rebooted. Yesterday I managed to install a build onto kodi, for the box to lock up when I was in kodi. The build had installed as the skin and layout had changed. Upon reboot the install had disappeared?

From day one, the standby or power button hasn't worked via the remote. Is this normal? You always have to turn it on/off at the box. I am using an air mouse VIP remote.

Also the system always resets it's time to 1970. It either eventually adjusts itself or you have to manually change it. I think this has something to do with the internet connection seemingly going in and out?

Also I have the box connected through HDMI port 2 of 3 on my SONY Bravia. All the other devices such as DVD and set top box all self select the HDMI channel when you switch it on and changes the channel automatically. The droidbox doesn't do this.

Can someone please help me, I think it's in need of a reboot somehow?

Best regards

Steve

.
Give Kodi a Clearout.
Then... Most Importantly. Clear out Android.
.Use SDMaid on the Android Sys.

When Done.. Delete the Dalvik cache, Then ReBoot.
During Boot The System will Update.
.
If you can Boot Into Recovery, All the options are There.
- Clear Dalvik
- Clear Sys Cache
You Also have Options to work with USB & sdCard.
Useful for Backups and Flashing Roms.... ~_^

Follow slabs advice re the 8 digit thing.
But also consider the following.
Given the "1970" date issue, it sounds very much like you have an internet connection issue.
First of all ensure that the connection is active, either by wifi or preferably ethernet.
Then i would run a speedtest (e.g. using the ookla speedtest app from google play, it may also be preinstalled).
Report back results for further advice.

btw are you exiting from kodi correctly i.e. via the exit button, bottom left of the screen? Failure to do so can mean any changes e.g. skin and layout are not saved.

Have give up on my box resetting the date and time, just thought it was par for the course with the new f/w(but the old f/w it also reset on). No internet issues for me (hardwired @100mbps+) also if you do not notice it has reset to this it causes havoc in Kodi ie. check log file errors galore.

i have also noticed more of this behaviour recently. Normally waiting a few minutes sees the time restored correctly although sometimes i have had to do a reboot.
My internet connection is good. Maybe it is a problem accessing whatever server is used to sync the time?

Will be trying @BANDIT's boot into recovery cleanup option when finished work and see if that fettles it in any way.
