Please note this file is for T8 Mini and T8-S Plus v2 devices ONLY.

Do not flash this file if you do not know which device you have.
This is only required for customers who received the earlier test firmware with Android 6.0, those with Android 5 still should NOT flash this patch. If you have Android 6 and see Wrong OTA ID based errors, this is the fix.

If you are on a Mac, you may need to this first: https://wiki.umbc.edu/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=31919091

Download https://droidboxcloud.co.uk/index.php/s/DrUrGMBH1L2R2RT/download and copy the ZIP file (no extraction of the archive please) to an SD memory card.

OPTION A
Use the Update & Backup app to initiate the flash

Click open the App drawer (a circle with six dots) from the Android launcher homescreen.
Open the UPDATE & BACKUP application

Click the SELECT button

Click the T8-SPlus_t8Mini_fix_ota_id.zip entry

Click the UPDATE button

Confirm you're certain you want to update
20170308_181252_0.png

OPTION B
If you prefer, you can use Android's Recovery Menu
Turn your DroidBOX off insert the SD memory card into the slot on the right.

Hold down the recessed switch towards the back of the case, on the same side as the memory card (a round hole, paper clip or sturdy cocktail stick should be fine). Please don't release the switch for quite a while.

Turn the DroidBOX on, and keep the recessed switch held down for a good 15/20 seconds. If Android's Recovery Menu appears before then, you can release the switch.

Select the option to Apply update from EXT

Now the Update from sdcard entry.
20170308_181757_0.png

Finally select the T8-SPlus_t8Mini_fix_ota_id.zip file
20170308_181806_0.png

Once the process completes, select the Reboot option.

When you open the OTA application you will now find you are back in the same group as T8 Mini users with Android 5 on their device still, meaning future OTA updates won't require this step again.

Quick question @ChrisM .
Can this also be used by those of us who downloaded the premature android 6 OTA update (the one which appeared one night but was taken down 24 hours later) as opposed to the legitimate on request test version?

Btw I have not experienced any problems with 6 and have been running it for 2 months now.
That said, if the ota update needs to be backed out to allow future updates I want to be able to do that.

I am confused as well. I have applied the above update as i received android 6 sometime ago (you have my version number from the 4k issue we pm'd about recently). Anyhow having applied the above update my sytem updater reported there was a new release available. This reported as version 1.1.4. According to the release notes it included Kodi 17 amongst other items. Having applied 1.1.4 no Kodi 17 either in Android or Librelec. The former showing 16.6.0 and the latter 16.1.
The build in 'About' is showing as 6.0.1 MHC19J 20170227

Hi waggers. You may be confusing dbmc and Kodi. Dbmc is indeed on v16.6.
There will be a separate Kodi icon in apps, now, hopefully showing v17.
There was no Librelec update.

Thanks Nigelar. I have just checked and you are correct in all respects. There is Kodi 17 sat in apps (however i am happy with dbmc 16.6). Thanks for the clarification.

@sean so for the people who downloaded that early 6 version. This update reverts back? Wow I rather keep version 6. I wonder if we keep version 6 if we will get future updates..also during update did it revert to factory settings? Or did it give you a option to keep current settings

Fiveznuff - my release info is shown in my mail above following the update and update 1.1.4. (Go to updates in apps for 1.1.4). The T8 is still on Android 6 and I kept all my settings, kodi links and Android apps. All work perfectly so far.

I used it last night on T8 mini over the top of that same premature marshmallow update @Nigelar and it reverts you back to the lollipop 5.1 ready for future updates.
thanks for the confirmation Sean.
Looks like tomorrow's task list is filled up then.

Did you do the first download option? And it did give you a option to keep current settings without doing a factory restore? And it kept android 6? Just need solid clarification before I move forward.. Thanks

Fiveznuff - yes I applied the update at the top of this forum trail as described by Chrism. I used the first method he describes. I downloaded the zip on my PC and transferred it to an SD card. It gives you the option to delete or keep settings. I chose to keep mine. I then re-booted the T8. I then went to the OTA updater and saw version 1.1.4 was there (various items plus kodi 17 in apps). It updated without any option to keep. The T8 was re-booted and all my kodi addons and android programs were present.
Good luck.

This patch alters a value on the device that the OTA application uses to check for firmware compatibility. The actual version of Android installed won't be altered.
Unless you select a factory reset/data wipe, all your settings should remain after applying the patch.

Maybe if you choose factory reset which is probably what sean99 did. I chose to straight install and it retained android 6.

Apologies about my wrong info, I carried out the restore but didn't look what version android the update would leave me with as I presumed it would be downgraded to 5.1. I did a factory reset also and the android version is 6.0.1 with kodi 17.

If you check the spmc (sempermax) web site, you can see if he has created an spmc 17 upon which dbmc will be based. Report back what you find.
