Can someone please advise on kodi bug and if we should be retraining from using Kodi on Android side of box.
Also, can it be confirmed that libreelec side is safe to use.

There is no kodi "bug" as such. However, a possible security flaw has been identified for those who use subtitles for movies.
This has been addressed in a new version of kodi 17.2. Which you can download for android from kodi tv, the official site (i haven't checked whether it is up on google play store yet).
Librelec on droiboxes runs kodi 16 (except for those people who have loaded the beta test version).

I guess if you do not use subtitles then the risks on android and librelec are minimal.

Thanks for update Nigelar.
I do use subtitles regularly on Librelec side, should I refrain from doing so for time being as there is doesn't seem to be any official updates for libreelec as far as I know.

The security flaw is in Kodi 16 so any o/s which runs it is at risk so that would mean Librelec.
Note many media players, for example, vlc, are affected not just Kodi.
Check for fixes in google play store or wherever.

You need Kodi 17.3 now as the rush released 17.2 messed a few things up.

****NOTE: you only need to update Kodi IF you download subtitles for movies. ****

Otherwise you can continue to use your current version of Kodi, dbmc, spmc, ftmc et al.
