Hi guys,

I recently purchased an RG-300 V2 model for my son. For the first week, it was working fine but then it stopped saving / loading game states. I have not done anything to the console since taking it out of the box, so it is running the default firmware.
Have any of you guys got any ideas on what could be causing this? I have rebooted the device but I am afraid that it the extent of my fault-finding ability.

Thanks, Scott

We have a save state overview at https://droidbox.co.uk/how-to/save-states-explained/ which might help. In the example we use the Genesis emulator which shows a screen preview when it saves. Could you try saving a game with this emulator and see if it creates a new slot with screen preview?

Also, when you are finished playing, are you exiting the emulator via the in game menu, and then shutting down via the Power Off icon in the menus? This should be done as it will close any open files such as save states.

Hi, thanks for the prompt reply. I have followed the steps in the guide and I am just getting a game 'save failed' message. This is happening on all emulators and ROM's on the device. I am exiting the game via the menu and powering off the console via the menu option rather than turning the power switch off.
I am at a loss as it was working fine and then stopped saving / loading save states.

There may be a chance the Micro SD Card is at capacity. I am working from home at the moment and do not have a RG300 with me to check exactly where the save games are kept. But put the card in a PC and check how much free space is left. If it is at capacity then it is likely there is a lot of save files, so you can delete any unnecessary ones.

Hi Dave,

That was it. I checked the memory and it was completely full. I removed one of the bigger ROM files and the games are now saving and loading.

Thank you very much for your help. My son will be over the moon now that he doesn't have to keep starting Sonic from the beginning each time he plays it.

Cheers, Scott
