LibreElec 7.0.3 never worked for me and I was happy using DBMC on my V1 box. Since last two days I was having problems with DBMC.

So thought why not try the beta of LibreElec 8.0.1. To be on safe side, I did a clean cache partition and factory reset before updating. Updated with the zip file given above and the update went well. Everything is working smoothly with LibreElec 8.0.1. Compared to the LibreElec 7.0.3 this update is very good and very slick.

I even felt this version is far better than the android version of Kodi 17.1.

Quickly setup different profiles and added my favorite skin. Halfway through the skin install, the install quit and returned to the home screen. Again continued the skin install and completed it.

So far I found no problems/bugs in this beta version. If this version goes through smoothly, I will be sticking to this version instead of android version.

Any idea on a date for official update for LibreElec 8.0.1,Krypton Kodi 17.1,seems to be taking for ever for it to
be released.Using Droidbox T8S Plus V1.Would rather wait for the offical update then use a SD Card and download
    a file etc.

Multiple devices with this update, so multiple tests. I've not heard a concrete date, but if you decide to give it a go and need a hand flashing this one do please say.

Turn off subtitles/disable automatically download subtitles (in Exodus for example) would be a step to take if you're using Kodi 17.1 .

Just to let you know I've been using this for a few weeks now. Had a few installation issues that a couple of factory resets sorted but has been absolutely plain sailing ever since. No bugs, glitches or problems whatsoever.
