This thread will describe the process for flashing firmware to your iMX6 device. This is for ANDROID firmwares.

Please note this file was designed for the original DroidBOX iMX6.

It should definitely not be used on a DroidBOX device other than the iMX6.

It may be compatible with devices from other manufacturers, but we can not take responsibility for any damage done. You are welcome to try, however if your box does not boot up, it will be your responsibility.

Do not flash this file if you do not know which device you have

If you are on a Mac, you may need to this first: https://wiki.umbc.edu/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=31919091

Download https://1drv.ms/u/s!AlRdlhGu3fjihmt7bNpyPctmOSL3 from May 2015

Android App
You can use the Upgrade application on your iMX6 to install this firmware, please start it, select the firmware ZIP file and confirm you want to proceed.

If this is not possible, or the application does not complete the process, you will need an SD memory card (or a micro/miniSD card with an adapter). If you don't have one of these, but do have a USB storage device (external hard drive, flash driver etc) please skip to the USB Device section.

Please follow our video guide:

SD Card
If you prefer, or need to perform this flash before Android loads, download the file linked to above, as well as https://1drv.ms/u/s!AlRdlhGu3fjihmw1gXztqd17Gz-V and https://1drv.ms/u/s!AlRdlhGu3fjihm3wfMrWFMtPieBV

Copy all three files to the root of your SD card. You should now have:

factory_update_param.aml
DBX-iMX6-13.2-dp-1.7-050615.zip
recovery.img

on there.

Safely eject the card from your computer, and insert it into your powered down iMX6 device.
Insert a cocktail stick/toothpick into the A/V port on the back of your DroidBOX .
You should be able to feel initial resistance, and then a button being depressed. Keep your stick/pick in place.
Power up your DroidBox device.
After 10 seconds remove the toothpick/cocktail stick. (If you do not observe an Android logo with an update icon spinning, please power down and try again.)

Once the process has completed, your device will reboot. Now please wait 20 minutes before clicking on anything (some parts of the process need time to complete fully).

USB Device
Copy the DBX-iMX6-13.2-dp-1.7-050615.zip file from the first link in this thread to your USB device.
Safely eject the USB device from your computer, and insert it into your powered down iMX6 device.
Insert a cocktail stick/toothpick into the A/V port on the back of your DroidBOX .
You should be able to feel initial resistance, and then a button being depressed. Keep your stick/pick in place.
Power up your DroidBox device.
Once you see an Android recovery menu appear, you can remove the matchstick.
Using the cursor keys on your remote, highlight the

wipe data/factory reset

confirm you're certain you want to. After this has completed, you need to select the

apply update from EXT

then the

update from udisk

entry. Finally, select the DBX-iMX6-13.2-dp-1.7-050615.zip file on your USB device.
Once the process has completed, your device will reboot. Now please wait 20 minutes before clicking on anything (some parts of the process need time to complete fully).
