These are for the v1 edition of the DroidBOX T8-S Plus. The T8-S Plus v1 is based on the Amlogic S812 chipset. The firmware was released April 2017 and is also available via the OTA Updater app on your DroidBOX device.

They are not for ANY other model, even if it has T8 in the name.

If you own a T8-S Plus v2, do not use these files, they will not work and could damage your machine.

It may be compatible with devices from other manufacturers, but we can not take responsibility for any damage done. You are welcome to try, however if your box does not boot up, it will be your responsibility.

Do not flash these files if you do not know which device you have.

There are two ways to flash this firmware.
1) Using a ZIP file and an SD memory card
2) Using an IMG file, a USB A to USB A lead and the Amlogic USB Burning Tool application

1) ZIP FILE AND MEMORY CARD

Download https://1drv.ms/u/s!AlRdlhGu3fjihjy-OJnJK22KYR2q and copy the ZIP file (no extraction of the archive please) to an SD memory card. The card should have a FAT or FAT32 partition.
If you find you are copying multiple files and folders, instead of one large ZIP file then please right click the download link at the top of this thread, and select Save As. You should now find you are downloading T8SPlus-1.0.9-ota-20170310.zip, rather than opening the archive.

Turn your DroidBOX off and insert the SD memory card into the slot on the right.

Hold down the recessed switch towards the back of the case, on the same side as the memory card (a round hole, paper clip or sturdy cocktail stick should be fine). Please don't release the switch for quite a while.

Turn the DroidBOX on, and keep the recessed switch held down for a good 15/20 seconds. If Android's Recovery Menu appears before then, you can release the switch.

Holding down the Restore switch on the side (behind the USB sockets), turn on your T8-S Plus v1. DO NOT LET GO OF THE SWITCH ON THE SIDE YET.
Once you see the Recovery menu on screen, release the Restore button.
Click on the option that mentions updating from EXT.
This time, click the entry that mentions SDCARD.
Finally, click on T8SPlus-1.0.9-ota-20170310.zip

Once the process completes, select the Factory Reset/Wipe Data option and confirm you want to carry out this operation.

Once completed, select the Reboot option.

The first time you boot may take longer than usual. Once you can see the Android launcher homescreen, please leave the device alone for 20 minutes. Do not reboot, switch to LibreELEC or power off during this time. Applications continue to install in the background and if interrupted will not resume the next time you boot up.

2) IMG FILE, USB CABLE AND A WINDOWS PC

If version 1) doesn't work, or you are looking for a firmware fix a serious error (such as your device doesn't show anything on your TV/monitor), then there is another approach. It takes longer and you may need to purchase a new lead (something like https://www.amazon.co.uk/HAVIT-Cable-Type-Male-Black/dp/B00UF8SEA0/ ), but can help repair devices that won't fully boot up, or won't flash ZIP files.

Download https://mega.nz/#!yP4AWI7D!y87ZAeCg1cmBmZv-antbjoqWMPrvc5tbf9i3ljvjdVw. It will be one IMG file (T8-s_plus_1.0.6_12102016.img), that should not be clicked on, we'll use it later. If you see an error message on your PC about the image being corrupt, please close the program, the file is needed for use on the DroidBOX, rather than the PC.

Next download https://mega.nz/#!uDRkXQKT!N1FnYO6TTpIzGTPaCyGQiEpNiTBhgNEtO2Y2_sYnu9E and open it. You will be asked if you want to install Amlogic's USB Burning tool - you do.

The first time you open it, click the second menu and select English.

Now take the USB lead and connect it to your PC. Turn off your T8-S Plus v1, and find a cocktail stick/toothpick. Put this carefully into the Recovery hole on the right hand side of your DroidBOX. You should be able to feel initial resistance, and then a button being depressed. Keep your stick/pick in place for some time to come.

Connect the USB cable to the USB socket on the T8-S Plus v1 that is closest to the Recovery switch - towards the back. Now power up your DroidBox device.

Keep the recessed switch held down for a good 15/20 seconds, and let Windows automatically install the drivers it needs.

Holding down the Restore switch on the side (behind the USB sockets), turn on your T8-S Plus v1. DO NOT LET GO OF THE SWITCH ON THE SIDE YET.

Back in the USB Burning Tool program, click on the "File" menu and click "Import image". Navigate to your Downloads folder and select the "T8-s_plus_1.0.6_12102016.img" file that was downloaded from the first link.

You'll need to wait a moment whilst it analyzes the file. You should find it automatically ticks the "Erase Flash" and "Erase Bootloader" boxes for you. If "Overwrite Key" is ticked, please remove the tick.

Now click the "Start" button please.

Once the process is complete and reported as successful, you can click the "Stop" button, and disconnect the USB cable. The first time you boot the T8-S Plus v1 up, it will take a little longer than usual, this is normal. Once you can see the launcher's homescreen, please leave the device alone for 10 minutes whilst it re-installs the applications.

Applications continue to install in the background and if interrupted will not resume the next time you boot up.
