Please confirm if you have the same issue using a WiFi router as well? Please check with the operator if data services are enabled to be shared over hotspot as well.

Don’t have problem over WiFi from router and looks like my data services is enabled
The G King can see my phone
Also tried daughters phone as that’s what she uses and wouldn’t work also
Could it be our box is too old ?

Have you tried to contact other devices to the hotspot? For example a PC, tablet or even your daughters phone. I would test those as well especially the latter.

This could be a WiFi hardware support issue for Hotspot connection on the device. Is this the first time you are trying to use WiFi hotspot for internet on device?

This is the first time I’ve tried
Doing it as no internet at present
Just seems strange that box can see my phone but just won’t open anything

It sounds like it's just a compatibility issue between your phone(s) and the box. If it connects to the router with no issue, and it can also see your phone, then there's nothing up with the box's Wi-Fi connectivity.
Is your daughter's phone an Apple device as well? The issue could lie with that. Apple are famous for their "walled garden" approach to things, so I wouldn't disregard that possibly being a part of it.
