Hi there, I just got an Nvidia Shield. It's my first Droid TV box and I'm a little green when it comes to using it.

I was watching YouTube vids and followed a guide on how to install Dimitrology which appears to be a preloaded version of Kodi as it already has add ons available. I can watch stuff in this but how do I put my add ons on the main home screen?

What are generally the best add ons for movies and anime.

Also why on earth does this thing not come with a web browser preloaded. I managed to install Opera but it was very slow and difficult to use. Is there a better alternative?

Any other tips appreciated.

Sarah

Just so you're aware @Sarahnya , this forum is for the DroidBOX community. DroidBOX is a company (you can see our hardware at https://droidbox.co.uk/choose-your-droidbox.html )
You have an Android TV box, but not sure how many in our community also have a Nvidia Sheld (in case you don't get many replies). I've not got one, so the following is mostly guess work and googling.

Does it have the Play Store installed? If so, Chrome or Dolphin are pretty good browsers IMO. If it doesn't have Google's Play Store (or a different application store) installed, you should still be able to sideload applications by transferring APK files to the Shield and opening them to install the app. Sites like APK Mirror store APKs, but you need to be sure that the application is the same as the original version found in the Play Store and hasn't been modified to carry adverts/spyware. https://droidbox.co.uk/how-to/antivirus-malware-protection-for-android-devices/ is a post we wrote for DroidBOX customers looking to install antivirus/antimalware on their device, but hopefully they'll work OK on your machine as well.

Adding shortcuts to Kodi's homescreen - this will depend on the skin you're using. If you mean adding a shortcut to a Kodi add-on in the Shield launcher's homescreen, rather than within Kodi itself, I don't think you'll be able to do this.

Best add-ons I'll leave for the community here to respond.

If you haven't already, you might find you get more responses at a forum for the Shield, like https://forums.geforce.com/default/board/111/nvidia-shield/
