Extract all three files into a folder on your PC. It should look similar to the image below:

Double click on CH341SER_Setup.exe (Windows) or for MAC follow the instructions in the PDF and follow the prompts to install the drivers.

Connect the USB cable to a USB port on your PC, and the other end to the USB port on the side of the Smooth Q handle. Do NOT switch on the Smooth Q.

Double click on Zhiyun Gimbal Tools v1.3.0.exe (Windows) or to load the Smooth Q Tool software.

Click on the Open button, and then click on the Firmware Upgrade tab.

Click on Browse and choose the file Smooth-Q Firmware V1.60.ptz (note the numbers may different if a newer firmware has been downloaded).

Click on the Upgrade button and it should show Waiting to Connect at the bottom.

Now switch on the Smooth Q. The software will connect and begin the firmware update.

The firmware update process should take a few moments. Once it has completed, click on the Close button at the top. Then switch off the Smooth Q and disconnect the USB cable.

Your Smooth Q is now updated and ready to use.

I just got the Smooth 4, which I would assume you follow these same steps. I got the correct firmware, get to the firmware upgrade tab....the "upgrade" button is grayed out though....any suggestions? TIA

By the way the Blouetooth connection did stop to work even before I changed the firmware of the Smooth Q itself.
I am therefor convinced that it must have influencing factors that either
  1. The Bluetooth function id damaged and not working on the Smooth Q I have now, or...
    what I think does make more sense:
  2. ...the smartphone standards and security updates prevent the App to find the Smooth Q. The App might need modification for older Smooth Q or the Smooth Q hardware and firmware. This is something I cannot judge on. But fact is - the product that worked fine did stop working.
I am really disappointed that the Smooth Q is not future proof enough to adapt on newer developments.
And for soure I can and will not downgrade the IOS at my apple iPhone 6S.

So I wonder what offer I might get from zhiyun-tech.com to maybe buy / purchase a newer model.

You would need to contact Zhiyun regarding discounts as we do not sell their products. Lookin on their support page for it at https://www.zhiyun-tech.com/smoothQ/en iOS 9 and high as well as iPhone 6. Unfortunately I have neither a Smooth Q or iPhone 6 to try this with. Is it possible for you to rest it with another device, that would at least see if there is an issue with the bluetooth or incompatible with the phone.
