Since LibreElec Kodi updated to 17.3 in the ota update, Kodi will not play movies etc from rar archives. This is really inconvenient because all my media is on a network drive and all still packed in rars. There is over 4tb of files and I don't want to go all the way through it unpacking it all. Being able to play media from within rar archives was always one of kodi's best features and there is no problem with 17.3 on pc, and 2 other LibreElec boxes, just the droidbox.

Perhaps a change in LE8?

Had a quick look around, others have discussed over at:

As the videos will be compressed with a codec already, are you saving more than a percent or two keeping the videos RARred ?

Hi, I am not compressing them, usually scene release movies are downloaded rared up into say, 30 pieces for example, but in Kodi you just see the video file say 4.3gb. Before the update to 17.3 this worked perfectly but not after, now it just shows 1 file of say 47mb which is just one of the rars and obviously won't play the .mkv video. It works perfectly on 17.3 on pc and 2 other LE devices, this feature is only broken now on the droidbox since the update.
