Movie playback switches to Kodi

The main app I use for movies is showbox downloaded on the android system instead of kodi.
When I start playing the movie using vlc after about 5-10 minutes of playing, kodi boots up and starts the movie again in kodi.
Any ideas?

Seems like when you have 1st used showbox you have chosen to use kodi as the default player to watch movies, just clear showbox data in android settings and reopen it and do not choose kodi as the default player.
