Hi I connect my device to a stereo player using rca cables, when the sound is turned up slightly there is a crackling/hiss sound in the background. On connection to tv with hdmi everything's o.k. My question...is this a known issue with this device (S905W)? Obliged for any help

I have not personally tried it but it could be interference. Have you tried a different cable and/or another device with the stereo player. Also try disconnecting the device from the cable and see if there is still noise on the stereo.

Thanks for the reply. It sounds exactly like interference. In order to try and isolate the cause, I'd already gone through all the options above. The cause is definitely the device itself, I'm wondering if others have encountered this or maybe I just got a bad unit. I'm considering a converter HDMI to RCA (dig. to analog) but I could get an X96 mini-box for the same price.

The volume from the TV headphone is too low, but the splitter looks ideal. That was helpful, thank you
