Hi,
I am new to all this so I apologise for any noobism.
My M8 MBOX keeps unchecking the internet connection. I have tried both wifi and ethernet and it does it on both. Is there a fix for this?
Also, so called HD movies, look bloody awful. Like standard def or worse. Loads of aliasing and horizontal lines. Lip synch issues as well.
Is there a good app to use where the streams are better in HD?
Many thanks
Chris

Is this within XBMC, using different add-ons, or various Android applications? Could you run us through a couple of specific examples of where this occurs, so we can try to narrow down where the issue is stemming from, please?
In terms of internet connections un-ticking themselves, I'm a little bit lost, sorry. Again, could you describe (from the moment of turning the device on, and getting past the normal booting up images), what you've seeing, and clicking on, so we can try and pinpoint the cause?

hi, thats so kind of you to reply.
With the un checking. It just happens randomly. It will load a window full of movies etc, then when trying to watchit reports an error in the top left of the screen. When I see any error in trying to stream, i check the boxes network settings and they have both been unchecked. Its just a random thing, but I know when it does it because films don't play or apps don't respond. its really weird.
Yes, the XBMC is where I have been looking. Under 'Movies' there are several choices for sources. I used Yify for example and found a movie that I watched recently in IMAX, transformers, it lists many sources of the file and I chose the HD version. Some links did nothing when I clicked on them and some started playing. The quality wasn't good.
I did, however, try a mutant ninja turtles link and it played rubbish at first, so I chose a different link and it remembered where I stopped the movie which was strange having come from another source, but this time the quality was great. I guess I just need to experiment with the different links.
Is there a better way of finding the quality sources?
Thank you so much for any help offered.
Best regards
Chris

Re different sources, it takes a while to notice a pattern, but I've seen the same. Some sources are listed as HD (in the Genesis add-on for example), but once loaded, clearly state they are SD streams, not 720 or 1080. It is easier with TV Series, as the sources seem to follow the same pattern, and I know which are likely to be HD, which ones to avoid because the file will probably have been removed, and which are slow to buffer enough to playback.
With the network settings being unchecked, do you have a phone/camera to hand? Is there any chance you could take a photo of the screen you're referring to, as it normally looks, then an "AFTER" picture, showing it when streams have stopped working? We'll get to the bottom of this, I'd just to make sure I understand what is happening!
Re resuming a file from a different source, but the temporary bookmark still works, I know what you mean, I was impressed/surprised as well.
By the way, YIFY is a good and convenient source for HD streams, but it is worth look around for other 1080p HD streams. Because his target audience is people watching his rips on a PC monitor or laptop screen, with stereo speakers, the Video Bitrate is a bit low when viewed on big TVs, and if you happen to have a surround sound system you'll notice you only get 2.0 channel audio. Just those last few sentences are enough to start a flame war over at The Pirate Bay comments sections for his uploads! Obviously I've only ever downloaded Public Domain/Creative Commons licensed material from that site...

Thank you for the reply.
I have noticed that with Yify films. There is so much choice within XBMC that I never know where to go. I will take a snapshot of the screen tomorrow and send it through. I know when the internet un checks itself because I get errors such as website down, or another error in red. There is a great add-on where I can watch TV from around the world which is amazing, however the picture sticks a lot, even the UK ones where live. I have it connected via ethernet so it should be very fast on a 30mb line. It is either the box which is 'OTT' M8, but I can't find an email address to ask for assistance or its my internet provider. I think I have filters set on my router. It blocks porn sites etc. I have a 9 year old son and want to make sure he's protected.
Perhaps the filters are knocking off the internet connection?

I'd assume the filters, if they were going to effect anything, would simply block the streams entirely, rather than "just" cause issues. You could temporarily disable all filters, have a standard configuration on your router, reboot it, then see if the UK live TV was any healthier.

I'll give it a go and see what happens. Strangely enough, I have xbmc on my Macbook and it runs everything?

OK, do you have a BT Hub/Superhub or other ISP-supplied network hardware? If so, try visiting a website on your DroidBOX's browser app, we've had reports of a couple of modem/routers that have required new devices to use their browser before getting unfettered general internet access.

What does it keep doing Shawn? Poor quality streaming? Dropping the wifi connection? When you go into settings, is wifi showing as switched off? An Ethernet connection is always a good choice but it is not clear what your wifi problem is. It could be that you are too far from the router.
What box do you have?

Wifi just keeps turning off and when i go back in setting the wifi box is unchecked. Had another box from Element that didnt do that at all so not my wifi signal. Gonna try ethernet tonight and see if that works. It will he a hassle having to do it that way considering my router is on floor above but what choice will i have

Streaming is crystal clear but only last for 10 minutes then stops and when i check in setting, the wifi box is unchecked and i have to recheck it. This is not every once in awhile either. Literally every 10 minutes.

Spoke with a tech and suggested either ethernet or buy an extender. So spend more money. If the Element TI4 box didnt crash i would def still be using it cause streamed perfectly without issue til it just stopped turning back on. Lol

Actually it sounds like you don't have a "droidbox". People here on the droidbox owners community obviously try and give generic help to anyone they can, but in your case, the problem seems to be a specific problem with wifi reception on your "android theatre.com" box so talking with their technical support is the right option.

Thanks for the help anyway. Gonna cross my fingers that this being my second box dont need to be sent back too.
