A quick google shows a few guides and videos. Suggest you check those out and see if it does what you want. The plex wiki has a link to a repository where you can download plexbmc for example.

Thank you for your reply. I'm not very technical, I shall give it a try. My 2 year old has hidden the remote and can't access the droid box now

There is also the Android application for Plex, see https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexapp.android&hl=en
Not sure which performs better.
