Felt like putting a quick post here for the future! (Hello random searcher however many months/years from now!)

We recently spent the afternoon running around like headless chickens over some GPI case units (with Raspberry Pi Zero W installed). For some reason they all refused to boot, and the screen would constantly hang, glitch out, then refresh itself. Occasionally an error message like "usb 1-1: string descriptor 0 read error: -19" would pop up.

The solution we came to after digging through Unix forums for hours for obscure answers? Change the batteries. The second we popped some fresh AA batteries in the case, it booted up like a dream.
The moral of the story here is that, when troubleshooting, always start with the very basics. "Have you tried turning it off and on again." rings very true in a surprising amount of situations.

It's rather embarrassing that we overlooked something so simple, but we hope this helps some others in the future :p
