Almost exactly the same as kodi on android side.
On slower hardware it would provide a better kodi experience with higher performance on media as you don't have the android and back ground apps running
On our t8-s+ it isn't really noticeable.
If you only use your box for kodi, it's worth using I guess just for boot up time gains
