I'm trying to use two VIP plus remotes to control my T8 mini, one for my use and one for my wife's.

I managed to get one remote working, but the other won't pair with my box. Can only one remote at a time be used? Do I need to insert the dongle that came with the extra remote into a USB port on the box? Meaning that there would be two dongles on one box?Seems like that would create all kinds of chaos…

BTW, you might be wondering why we need to use two remotes. I'm disabled and must use a wheelchair, while my wife usually lounges on the couch. Therefore, when she's not around I need a remote to be within my reach.

Tried the two dongles. Both remotes now work, but one (the second one plugged in) is acting faulty. Specifically, the up arrow button functions as the "ok" button – as does the actual ok button.

This makes the remote pretty much useless, as not being able to navigate up is quite a hindrance. Of course, I can switch to the cursor in most situations, but, as I mentioned in my previous post, I'm disabled (multiple sclerosis) so air mouse movements are not all that easy.

Wondering if some third-party remotes might work better, and most also have more buttons that can be mapped with an IR remote.

Strange decision to leave the media buttons (play, fast-forward, etc.) off of this remote. Forces one to use the on-screen display when in Kodi…

You can try the Droidbox share app from google play on your android phone or tablet (I think there is an iOS version).
That has a remote function.

I've found when using the iOS DroidBOX share app that the keyboard and cursor selection tools don't work in Kodi 17. The keyboard comes up, but anything entered into it doesn't appear in Kodi. The cursor also shows up in Kodi, but there's no way to select anything with it. Tapping on the touchpad doesn't work.

So far, the best I've been able to come up with is using the droid Box share app to navigate the droid Box GUI, and then switch to a Kodi remote app once Kodi opens up. Kind of a pain, but it works.

try wireless mice, keyboards, or blue tooth to bypass the dongle tie up i have noticed that you have to link blue tooth on the v2 all the time when it loads or the device is not loaded and it gives you a blue tooth error

i can look for some good price points and links if you need them

Hi

For this type of use keyboards such as i8 would be of better use.
https://droidbox.co.uk/droidbox-i8-2-4ghz-mini-keyboard-53.html

VIP Plus as an air remote do activate automatically cursor and using touch based in this case would be better use. Also regarding the dongles each device with the dongle do need its own so for example if more remotes /accessories are in use please do insert USB dongle for each device.

Also you could try to use IR remote and VIP remote together without any problems.

Also computer mice /keyboard may come in handy,it all matters on your personal preference.

Regards and have a nice day ;)

Thanks for the advice/offer. I'll take a look and see what Bluetooth devices are available out there. Problem is I only have one working hand, so a full keyboard/mouse isn't really viable. An air mouse type remote is the best form factor for me…

Unfortunately, due to my disabilities, the form factor of the i8 wouldn't work for me. I'm down to one working hand, so the air mouse remote form factor is best.

So far, the best workaround I've found is using the DroidBOX share app to control the box GUI, and then switching to a Kodi remote app when using that application.

The iOS share app doesn't do well in Kodi. The cursor function doesn't work, and neither does the virtual keyboard.

Currently investigating third-party remotes to see if one might do the job… Thinking that perhaps if my wife uses the VIP plus and I use a third-party remote we may have our solution.

I've always liked the i12 remote control (not in stock, but you can see Google's cache of it here - https://webcache.googleusercontent....770_843844262381503+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk ) in terms of a controller with a touchpad on the side.

If you're plugging in two controllers at the same time, might get better results when they are different models.

One quick thought, a bog-standard wireless (USB dongle) mouse should work fine on the DroidBOX, in case that is a possibility/you have one at home already.

Thanks so much for providing all of these links. I appreciate the work you put in on my behalf…

After doing some research, I decided to order a well reviewed third-party air mouse, hoping it will work alongside a VIP plus in the same Mini box.

I'll report back once I get the remotes (should only take a couple of days, I'm an Amazon prime member)…

Thanks for the suggestions/advice. Not sure that form factor would work all that well for me, though. I will check it out if the third-party air mouse remotes that I just ordered don't work out…
