OK,
Well here goes - Had a phone call from Virgin Media. All was OK. Asked me if I needed any upgrades. Asked me if I had any problems with my router!!!!!! All fine no worries. Then started talking about usage and download usage. Blathered on for a few more minutes then asked me outright if I had any illegal kit installed. I basically told them where to go and told them I don't like the insinuations.
They told me its generic questioning - what a load of crap.

Anyway - can someone point me in the right direction to install IP Vanish and explain where do I install it and how to get it up and running please. I have never had any experience in VPN so I'm a bit clueless.
I am on T8 Mini and also VM router with Imac and gigabit netgear switches connected along with lads x boxes. Will this make any difference to how difficult it will be to set up please????
Thank you all in advance of any help you give me coz I need it!!
Dave

Yeah vm can see what your streaming on what device Dave, would have thought you just get your subs and use the app on whatever device and put your details in and turn the vpn on from within the app and your covered. I use pia and ip v should be the same setup.

I have had them tell me whilst on the phone to them exactly what devices connected ie. Droidbox t8 plus am not dead certain they can see exactly what streams as wasn't streaming at the time but that was good enough for me to use a vpn. They put 2 and 2 together when an android box is being used and think Kodi. A lot of other streamers will be getting the same type of call you have had as they are trying to clamp down on kodi. Get 1 sorted asap is my advice mate.

I have noticed in the router settings you can see everything connected to your network along with names of the device, dreambox, wiiu,Samsung phone.I wonder if they can see that at virgin and if it's possible to just change the name of the device in the router settings.

Hi again pieeater2015
I can actually change the name of it in my router settings. It is currently and actually named "droidbox"
I can also change the name of the box in the Librelec settings???? - would I be safer just to change it in the router as I don't want to screw things up on my box?
Just thinking - if this is easy - then will VM see the connection named whatever I call it?
I could just call it NAS DRIVE for instance.
Interesting

Excellent - Thank you. I will do it tonight. I dont think Ive set up shortcuts. The only thing I do is connect to my NAS drive to play films through the files link but its calling from NAS to Droid and not the other way - so I reckon Ill be able to do it.
Thanks

Router names are just names you can see, the ip provider can see, or a hacker sees. It doesn't change being able to see the device or its usage

Vpn just makes it look like you are in Africa instead of the UK. A true web server running Linux or Apple then vpn very very much harder to get into and hacked!

But IP provider's and the government are sneaky brats who knows what they see how much they see etc Google now flat out sells your information look it up has been found in the last couple years

Buy a vpn router vpn software only covers the device its on not the whole network!

Plus pc software there in your network already, router is spoofing at the source, I recommend replacement of current router because 2 router's are complicated and hard to get right. Can be done just very hard

There is also a vpn firewall combination router for 169 well worth the price for the extra security

I'm not a expert and could be wrong or outdated on my info I used to be a network tec pc repair spyware virus security etc

Also I have been following breaking stories about our data being sold!

Now we all know that what we put on the net is public and permanent even the 2min tweet or post you tried to delete lol

But now they are looking to take it farther than that and have everything you do not just the IP providers or government but now everyone can see what they see

I would Google and YouTube it good to keep up with selective news. BUT this is the US I forgot to mention im us but the rest of the net advice is universal

Also duck duck go search engine has been around for some years and has very good results, they claim to be a private search engine hmmm might be good for the porn lmao

Bearing what you have said in mind. Even connected to a VPN, if you are logged in to Google, i.e. Chrome, every web site you visit is logged, even if you clear your history in the Google settings menu!!

With the new legislation in the USA, I bet the government will get the info off google, as there in California!!

Is there a zero tracking website available?

Nothing is ever going to be zero tracking, especially in the US im not sure what the UK rules are but everything you do is always traced and tracked

Your pc,individual websites, ip provider's. Etc most people think that wipeing the pc erases everything, i know from working in data recovery you have to destroy the drive, or zero write it a number of times that's why the professional hackers have thermite on the pc thermite burns hot enough to melt fast and is hard to put out.

Or acid bath the system easily just costic household cleaner in the tub etches the drives and destroys the circuit

On Line no real way to stop it but the best way is firewall hardware not software only software is vpn virus etc
