Did you format the sd card to fat32 beforehand then download the zip file (not unzipped) on to it?

will do. BTW I tried both previous (update) links that Sean99 kindly directed me to and got the same error.

Ok on the purchase receipt it states "DROIDBOX T8-S OPENELEC"
on the box it states T8-S V2.0

which update would/should I use?

BTW the OTA does not give a download, it just states no updates available

Hi

Then you have T8-S model, not the plus, otherwise it would be stated so.

You can write us build number here that is available to see inside OTA updater app,so we can tell if its latest version available.

Hi

Looking at your question from the thread

https://droidboxforums.com/threads/droidbox-t8-s-openelec-which-update-do-i-use.11007/

which is written on the board T8-S Plus v1;

Can you re check which box do you have,as box model T8-S and T8-S Plus v1 are not the same model and firmware from one can not work on other.

Regards

Hi, On the T8-S Plus v1 click on settings (two cogs) scroll along to > About > select it that will tell you > Device name > Version of android your on 5.1.1 > and the build number.

T8-S settings (two cogs) scroll along to > Other > and you will get the same information there, the T8-S is on android version 4.4.2.

Ok. I think part of the confusion is that you have posted in the t8s plus v1 part of the forum and you actually have the t8s machine.
People have replied on the basis you have the t8s plus v1.
The last real firmware update for the t8s was around April 2016.
Bringing a few tweaks and updated versions of DBMC which have already been superseded by later versions today.
Can I ask what you are expecting from a firmware update?
You may be able to get what you want from other sources.
