If you're considering upgrading from the iMX6, then the Q7 (quad core CPU and more RAM) or T8 (quad core CPU, octocore GPU and more RAM) would make sense.

Should you be looking at getting an UltraHD (4K) TV in the next couple of years, the T8 is the only device capable of above 1080p resolutions.
If you only ever watch 720p or lower resolution videos, don't use the iMX6 for gaming at all, and never found yourself wishing the interface was a little more snappy to respond, then it sounds like the iMX6 still meets your needs.

I'm a little confused as I have a SONY 4K tv but the box T8 defaults to 720 p 60hz with HDMI auto detection on. If I turn off auto detection I then get four modes relating to 4k they are as follows.
4k2k-24hz
4k2k-25hz
4k2k-30hz
4k2k-smpte
So which setting would I use given the fact most of the films are 720p or 1080p ?

1080p-60hz?

Any ideas welcome. ;-)

Re the modes, 24, 25 and 30 would all make sense depending on what the majority of videos you watch have as their FPS. I've not got a 4K display, and have yet to discover what the smpte option actually does. I know it is an acronym for a organization of professionals in a related area, but until I get a T8 and 4K set, I'll have to keep googling.
If your videos are of mixed framerates, then try the 30Hz option first.

Ok thanks very much for your reply I've had it on 1080p 60Hz but will try it now for a week or so on the 4k 30Hz and will let you know how I get on ;-)

If you don't actually play that much 4k content, it might be worth keeping 1080p mode until you need 4k. The refresh rate will be higher at least that way.
Yes tried it but was really slow clicking through the menus for some reason and didn't look any better so will stick to 1080p as SONY X8505 is so good at Upscalling SD and HD anyway. ;-)
