Just a quick check, the July 15th thread linked to this post - https://droidbox.co.uk/blog/Have-720p-Want-1080p/ yes?
If you look at the first screenshot in that blog post, do you have the same entries?
Can you try the 50Hz (1080p) option, and let us know whether that one sticks?
When you select a different option in the HDMI mode entry of Android's Screen settings, do you get a dialog about wanting to keep or revert the resolution?

Hi rick_ca,

I am new to droidbox and I had the same issue, but I did get 50hz (+1080) working as Silently Screaming suggests. I use a large TV via HDMI and the picture is as good as the stream you're watching. Just be mindful that the majority of the streams on the net are not the greatest quality especially live events.

The screen going blank indicates that the DroidBOX is switching to 1080p, but your TV isn't displaying the signal.
The reason it reverts to 720p afterwards is the because if you don't click on KEEP in the dialog box (that you can't see), the default selection of REVERT is selected. Obviously if you did click on the KEEP button, you'd be in 1080p mode, but not able to see anything on your screen.
If you want to double check this, take your X7 and plug it into a different 1080p capable TV (preferably a different make and model), and you'll see the interface that appears when you switch from 720p to 1080p. Just don't forget to switch back to 720p afterwards, otherwise you'll not see anything on your TV when you plug the X7 back into it.
What is the make and model of your TV, perhaps there are some unusual settings you can select to get the display to show what the X7 is outputting?

To put it succinctly if not delicately, it does sound like your TV is the part of the equation causing the issue. If you want to be totally sure, visit a friend with a 1080p screen (different make and model) and check if you can see the "Keep Changes" type option appear when you switch to 1080p. Just don't forget to flick back to 720p before reconnecting to your TV.

I'm sorry I have to disagree. My TV accepts 1080p from other sources however I am experiencing the same problem.
