Hi all,
Hope this dont sound too daft!!! I have the option of setting my download path to SMB or UPNP.
What is the best/fastest or does it not really matter.
Im downloading to a drive on my network. I can see it and I can play films from it through my box no problem.
Any advice would be great - Thankyou

Run some tests to be sure, but if both avenues are otherwise equal (ease of use, reliability) I have a gut feeling that transfers via SMB could be slower (with the overheads involved).
However, it depends on the speed your can actually achieve prior to it getting written to a hard drive - if you're not potentially surpassing that on SMB already, UPnP speeds might not make any real difference.

Hi ChrisM - cheers for that. I ran a couple of tests using SMB path then UPNP Path. SMB was good but slow and a few times stopped during download.
UPNP although the same destination was indeed a lot faster. Ill use UPNP for the path for both TV and Movies.
Cheers for the advice.
