i've just started using showbox and its not streaming well on my android device so im trying to download movies instead but i havent got enough internal memory. i've bought a usb powered external hard drive and when i plug it in it tells me that its prepared and i can open files from it but can anyone tell me if there's anyway to download films directly to it? maybe if i change the home directory path? if so what do i name it? help please!

If your droidbox has android 4.4 kitkat you will need to install an app called kitkat external sd patch from play store. Google prevented write to sd card on kitkat and above.

Above and beyond the difficulty with KitKat based ROMs, getting ShowBox to download to a specified (rather than default) location can be tricky.
DirectoryBind is a utility I used to use on an old GingerBread based phone - http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/themes-apps/tool-directorybind-data-to-externalsd-t1410262 . It can take a couple of attempts to get the settings correctly configured, even on a device with a build of Android that doesn't block you.
I've not used it before, but https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tobino.redirectsfree&hl=en (the free version) may work, but it requires enough space for the initial placement (download in this case) to fit. Check CCleaner and ZDBox - http://droidboxforums.com/threads/tweaking-apps.102/ - to try and recover some space from your internal storage.
