I bought the MXQpro to be a Skype box for my parents (since Skype killed the tv cams - hey droid box this is whole new marketing angle you shoukd exploit).

Is there a way to:
  1. Get the Skype notification to appear on the home dashboard when I am calling (I.e to make this a one click answer)
  2. Even better yet use CEC hdmi to switch the TV to the input the droid box is on when I am calling?

The Q8-S - https://droidbox.co.uk/droidbox-q8-s.html - is the DroidBOX model some people use for webcam.

1. I've not tried it myself, but Snowball might help here. Seems to replace and allow customization of the notifications, so you could have Skype presumably set to always appear, and others that your parents don't need, hidden.

https://www.apk4fun.com/apk/59501/ (I've tried from UK, USA, Canadian and Indian IP addresses, the Play Store states it isn't available in my country.
Personal recommendation, not official DroidBOX, and please note I've not scanned that APK file for viruses etc.

2. Kodi can play with CEC I think, so you might be able to set up some sort of IFTTT rule that made Skype trigger Kodi to send a switch signal. Not played with IFTTT very much at all, so it might be outside the scope of the application. Would presumably also require some coding in Kodi as well.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will look at the app.

The IFTTT sounds cool but too fragile for my need (parent acceptance factor) a more turnkey solution could be a real differentiator...... :)
