The very short version is please read https://droidbox.co.uk/blog/t8-s-ota-update-for-openelec/

If you'd prefer to read about it here...

Changes:
upload_2015-10-1_13-54-3.gif
VPN connections can now be created again

Fixed a factory reset combination which could cause a device to lock in a boot loop
Fixed a broken section of EDID implementation that could cause a device to fail to load openELEC

How To Check For The Update (if you don't see a notification automatically):

Turn on your T8-S (Switch to openELEC if in Android) then scroll to the right and click on the Programs entry
Open the OpenELEC Dev Update

(Start here if the notification is still on your screen)

Choose the 20788 (29 Sep 15) build from the menu - if a more recent build is listed, try that
Click Yes to confirm the upgrade

The update will now download. Once complete you will be prompted to run XBMC Backup, you can skip this part if you wish to (if this is the first time you've used openELEC or have wiped the data to start afresh, there is definitely no need to backup!) After this you will be prompted to Reboot to install the update.

@JPMSCFC - Please try wiping openELEC first, see
and don't forget to set up openELEC's WiFi/Ethernet settings in Programs>openELEC Config>Connections

@Tahir - Possible the storage space has run out for the download to complete it, please follow same steps as above video first. If problems remain, flip back to Android (power/standby button, switch to Android) and click on the Settings icon (normally one or two cogs). From here, the OTHER tab, then the MORE SETTINGS button. Finally click on storage, and check whether you've got a space issue still.

Finally managed to do the update - after giving up with it as there appeared to be nothing wrong with my box, I gave it a go last night and found this time it didn't freeze and kept going, the download speed was incredibly slow though. I think it took an hour to do the download but after that I had no problems.

With the update, my openelec has become unusable as it seems to be not connecting to anything and just times out, the clock updates but everything else seems to struggle. I have no problems in Android and space is currently at 2.5 GB free.

Sorry I forgot to update the thread but last week I switched back to openelec to see if it would work and surprisingly it did and has continued to do so without issues. I didn't change anything or do anything other than use kodi on android for a while so beats me what happened.

Hi folks
I am just using opelec for the first time. I have installed the most recent update, as mentioned above. Seems to have updated successfully. However, I now no longer have the wookie wizard as an option to install.
Are there any tutorials kicking about on how to add the wookie wizard to open elec? Any info would be appreciated.
Cheers

https://seo-michael.co.uk/tutorial-how-to-install-the-wookie-wizard-for-kodi/ PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO USE THE APPLE TV PACK
If you use a different skin, you'll need Program Add-ons (or the skin's equivalent shortcut)>openELEC Configuration>Scroll the first list to the bottom>Switch To Android if you want to leave openELEC, or flip back to the Confluence skin: System (Settings)>Appearance>Skin>Confluence>Confirm.

I know this is an older post but my openelec freezes I have an t8s plus, wanted to update it from 6.0.0 to 6.0.1 but keeps giving me a URL error even after I have done a reset shown above. If you could help would be great. It says openelec (unofficial)?

Hi, This was a update for the T8-S not the T8-S PLUS, that may be why you are getting error message.

The update may not work on the T8-S PLUS.

There is a mismatch with the folder name, thanks for noticing (it is https://droidboxforums.com/forums/t8-s-plus.51/ for the T8-S Plus model by the way). I'll get that folder name sorted, though not sure there is an update from us ready.
