there seems to be a black bar across the top cutting off some of the picture. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks

It looks like the picture is stretched side ways, click on the movie reel icon, the top line of that menu should allow you to change
the size of the picture you are watching, there might be something else but this is the first you could try.

Hi, try going out of Kodi and go to the setting (two cogs), now display and turn off Auto HDMI detection. Then underneath click on this to set the correct screen size...ie 1080 @ 60hz.
See if this helps.
When you go back to Kodi, when watching something press the ok on the remote. You should have the bottom sub menu up, go to the film reel icon and click on it. Near the bottom you have screen calibration, you can make some miner adjustments here too.
I normally move the line for subtitles up so its not in the black line of the screens aspect ratio wide screen.
After setting this go to the bottom and set as default.
Hope this helps...

Most movies have black bars top and bottom. To get rid of them, while watching a movie press the ok on your remote so you get the sub menu on the bottom. Now go to the film reel and click on it, now click on view mode and change it, to stretch 16.9 and that should get rid of it.
After you do this you can save it at the bottom...Set as default for all videos.
I normally don't do as sometimes moves can already be in wide screen or even 4.3.

Just out of curiosity, did you check the display setting in the two cogs on the main boot up menu. Sometimes if set in HDMi auto detect it gets it wrong. If you turn it off and in the next one down select the best one for your tv and it will be sorted.
Normally when you select stretch 16.9 it only stretches the picture vertically to fit your tv.
