T8 - Nothing can stream when connecting to an AV amp via hdmi?

Hi,
everything works fine with my new T8 when connected straight to my TV. However, when trying to connect to another TV via a SONY AV amp, when using an hdmi lead, nothing will stream.
Does this mean an optical lead is required.
The wifi is also fully connected.

I have T8 connected via a soundbar with HDMI cable and pass through selected in audio settings and it works fine
