I don't know what other forum this goes in, so.....

A friend gave me an old TX3Pro, 1gb x 8gb. I've been trying out different apps and have finally decided what I want in it. Right now it run very slow and often takes a very longtime to load apps.

I want to clean it out and start over again, so I need to know the best way.

Should I simply reset the box or find away to flush out everything and start over again?
It has Android 6.01, but would it be worth putting in Android 7x?

Suggestions and how tos please?

Is it a DroidBOX device? If not, that will be why there isn't a section for it here at the official DroidBOX forum.
A quick google of the model seemed to mention Android 6 only, do you have an Android 7 firmware for this device?
With regard to resetting it, do first get advice from the device manufacturer, or the company that sold it to your friend, but performing a factory reset (see https://droidbox.co.uk/how-to/accessing-your-droidboxs-recovery-menu/ for how to do this on DroidBOX devices at least), signing into Google's Play Store and updating all applications, then setting up Kodi to your liking would probably be a good idea, yes.
