I clean formatted mine and loaded a custom Rom.. I have updated it running lollipop and Kodi 17, I used a custom version of LibreElec and it runs at less CPU than it did stock..
It's a little boring looking but you can use a different launcher.. Based on the M8.

It's now been many months that I am unable to use OpenElec as most sources and apps are now 5 steps ahead at droidbox, it's more frustrating that one of the reason I purchased the box was because it had openELEC on it. Please stop taking people money by advertising that it has it on the boxes...
